‘How to administer the Phonics Check’ refresher; developing reading fluency

A half day session focusing on making the most of weeks before the Screening Check for children in Year 1 and 2.

What will you be able to do?

  • Identify gaps in children’s phonic skills and knowledge
  • Use a repertoire of successful core activities to support closing the gaps
  • Plan to support children with their phonics and develop reading fluency
  • Understand clearly how to statutorily administer the Check – this may be new or a refresher for some attendees

It would be useful for attendees to bring with them any recent practice Checks or reading assessments

This event will be taking place on 04.05.18, from 9am until 12pm at Plover Primary School.

This course will cost £60 per person for Enhanced Members, £75 per person for Core Members, and £90 per person for Non-Members.

“The EEF is delighted to have been able to work with Partners in Learning and Doncaster schools on the ‘Making best use of Teaching Assistants’ project. The way the evidence has been brought ‘to life’ by bringing in expertise on school improvement, and drawing on local school examples, has been fantastic. Thank you to all the schools for the energy and commitment they have brought to the project. We look forward to working together on future collaborations".
