Early Career Champion Recruitment

Partners in Learning are currently recruiting Early Career Champions who will have a key role as part of the Doncaster Early Career, project which is supporting schools in preparation for the introduction of the new framework. This framework has a vision ‘to build on high -quality Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and become the cornerstone of a successful career in teaching.’

Doncaster has been identified as an early roll out area so all schools will have the opportunity to be part of the pilot stage from Sept 2020.

The role of the Champion will be:

  • To further develop a secure understanding of the Early Career Framework (ECF)
  • To develop an understanding of the local offer for Early Career Teachers (ECT) in Doncaster
  • To work with a small group of target schools to help them to audit their provision, support and training for ECTs
  • To work with senior leaders within the target schools to construct an action plan in preparation for the effective delivery of the requirements of the Early Careers Framework
  • To work in partnership with school leaders to monitor progress and evaluate impact
  • To contribute to the evaluation of the project

Any interested applications will need to evidence:

  • At least 2 yrs experience in a leadership role
  • Experience of working with other schools at leadership level
  • Strategic understanding and experience of supporting and impacting on the development of Early Career Teachers
  • Secure understanding and experience of mentoring and coaching

  • Early Career Champion Induction – Friday 7 Feb (am )
  • Early Career Framework Programme Launch – Mon 10 Feb (twilight)
  • Face to Face Training Day for schools and Champions – Tuesday 10 March (12.00pm – 4.30pm)
  • Face to Face Training Day for schools and Champions – Tuesday 10 March (12.00pm – 4.30pm)
  • Provide follow on support for schools with the aim of constructing and monitoring an action plan and supporting it’s effective delivery (2 X 0.5 days – Summer Term)


This is a fully funded project and Early Career Champions will be paid at the SLE or equivalent rate of £300 a day. This will involve the equivalent of 3 days to attend training and 5-6 days (likely to be in half day sessions) to provide follow on support across the Spring and Summer terms, with a total maximum commitment of 8 days.
