A statutory assessment tool that helps schools meet their duties in supporting pupils who are working below the level of the national curriculum and who are not engaged in subject- specific study.
This course is aimed at all schools – mainstream primary and secondary schools, special schools and Integrated Resource settings (I.R.’s) and will run across 3 dates (you must attend all 3 sessions): 8th February 2021, 8th March 2021 and 26th April 2021 - all 1.30pm – 3.30pm and the sessions will be delivered via Zoom in order for us to comply with the current government guidelines around COVID 19.
This is an official training package from the Department for Education. The Engagement Model is a statutory assessment tool that helps schools meet their duties in supporting pupils who are working below the level of the national curriculum and who are not engaged in subject-specific study.
The Engagement Model has 5 areas: exploration, realisation, anticipation, persistence and initiation. The engagement model will become statutory from September 2021 and schools will be required to:
AUDIENCE: Local Authority Advisors, Head Teachers, Senior Leaders, SENCOs, Data and Assessment leads and governors in both mainstream primary and specialist settings with P1-P4 learners. * Delegates must be part of the Doncaster Local Authority region.
Please Note: Following the disruption caused by coronavirus, the DfE recognise that some schools may not have had the opportunity to engage with the guidance and training opportunities, and as a result may be less prepared to implement the engagement model. Therefore, the 2020/21 academic year will be a transitionary year (subject to the necessary legislation being made) where schools will have the time to prepare for, and start embedding, the engagement model by:
The DfE will also use a flexible approach for the submission of teacher assessment outcomes at the end of key stages 1 and 2. Schools that have used the engagement model will be able to report against it, and schools that need more time to implement this change will continue to have the option to assess against P scales 1 to 4, for one final year.
