“Help I’m a Middle Leader!” gave Doncaster Middle Leaders, the opportunity to work and visit with colleagues in other schools and to work on a school priority. The recent celebration event held, to look at the impact of this programme, showed the vision, work and impact of the work, carried out by the Middle Leaders. This included a range of topics, including, reading, maths, STEM, science, Early Years, PE and phonics.
The Middle Leaders embraced the opportunity and found the value of working in partnership with other schools. School Leaders spoke highly of the impact of the work undertaken by the Middle Leaders during this process and the ongoing nature of their work. “These are our School Leaders of the future and we are equipping them with the skills needed!” quoted one Headteacher.
“Middle Leaders have more day-to-day impact on standards than Headteachers. Middle Leaders are, simply, closer to the action. Teachers’ and pupils’ experience of leadership comes most frequently from their Middle Leaders. And the essential work of curriculum planning, monitoring and developing teaching belongs with Middle Leaders.” - Russell Hobby, General Secretary National Association of Head Teachers.
