POSTPONED - Early Career Teacher Conference 2020

A revitalising day to gather invigorating ideas from experienced practitioners, develop understanding of the Early Career Framework, grow ideas about investment in career progression, and share challenges and successes with fellow early career teachers.

This one day conference welcomes Newly Qualified and Early Career Teachers, offering delegates a chance to source fantastic ways of underpinning learning with creativity and awe.

In addition, a 'work and well-being' strand of sessions will give delegates new ideas about how to stay resilient and invested in the classroom a great way to improve retention in schools.

Conference objectives

  • Develop an understanding of the Early Career Framework.
  • Explore a range of Health and Well-being Strategies for staff and pupils.
  • To allow Early Career Teachers the opportunity to focus on their career progression.
  • To take away great classroom practice.

Morning Key Note Speaker

We are excited to present Gary Toward who is an enigmatic trainer, fantastic keynote speaker and novelist. Gary’s 33 year teaching career has spanned 7 schools countrywide with pupil’s age ranges from 10-19. This has included being Head or Principal at 3 schools including co-leading the Pupil Referral Unit out of ‘Special Measures’ and leading a school to ‘Outstanding’.

Gary has written several successful published works including The Decisive Element which is rammed full of top tips, tools and techniques to enable teachers to create a more positive, praise-based culture in their schools and classrooms.

Afternoon Key Note Speaker

We are delighted to welcome Nina Jackson, a highly creative educator and, whilst her first book explored her research on how music can improve learning and motivation in all classrooms, her latest best-selling book, Of Teaching, Learning and Sherbet Lemons: A Compendium of Careful Advice for Teachers, is helping put the ‘fizz’ back into classrooms for thousands of teachers.

For Nina, it’s all about the sherbet lemons. Classrooms need to have the ‘hard stuff’ in place - rigour, systems, expectations and a professionally inclusive approach to the achievement of all children. But there also needs to be the ‘fizz’ – the magic, the excitement, the emotional engagement, the sense of wonder, the passion for teaching and learning, that special energy that Nina personifies when you hear her speak.
